Chapter 1
"That last road on the left that we went by a few miles back is the one you should have taken," said Maurine to Jeremiah.
"I know where I am going. I have driven to Petra many times. I know a short cut that will get us to your aunts' house. No worries!" exclaimed Jeremiah.
About fifteen minutes went by and Jeremiah and Maurine arrived at their destination. Maurine kissed her husband and got out of the car.
"I love you. Promise me you will take the main road on the way back to our house," Said Maurine. "That short cut is much too dangerous, and it is getting hot outside. If you get stuck, you could cook in the heat before anyone comes to help you."
Jeremiah, with a smirk on his face, drove off without answering her, as he often did. He instead kissed his fingertips and waved them at her as he departed.
The Book of CAIN is part two of the series from The Life Tree by Michael W. Brault. This story has taken me to a very terrifying and dark place that I never imagined that the story would go. As I was writing it, I very badly needed to know how it was all going to turn out. This is just insane.
