Chapter 1 You silly dog!
The sun came up around 5:30 this morning. Grandma was already in the kitchen making our breakfast. I could smell the turkey beacon cooking as my eyes began to open. I could hear grandma humming a tune as she came down the hall toward our bed rooms.
"It is time to rise and shine," said Grandma to all of us kids.
I pulled the covers over my head as Amelia shouted from the girls' room, "seventeen more days until the first day of school!"
I cringed as I thought to myself, "How could anyone be excited about going back to school?"
Grandma knocked on my door and said, "Blaze, it is time to get up. Breakfast is ready."
I buried my head into my pillow and said, "Good grief, just five more minutes, please…"
I stayed up way to late last night.
